Pure Storage Announces the “Data Hub”

As I’ve said before, data is currency. All companies using information systems collect data. Customer information, sales information, trending, etc. For years leveraging that data for business purposes has presented interesting challenges. Data modeling software has advanced significantly. Elk and Splunk are tools that can leverage customized reporting to gain insight into that data, however the compiling of diverse sets against that data has brought us to the world of Data Warehousing or Data Lakes. The concept of a Data Lake, or large diverse data depository, has traditionally been viewed as a distinct challenge. The diverse way in which the data is stored makes for reporting challenges, and the desire to generate these reports requires big horsepower on the storage side so that dynamic report generation doesn’t both drag down the rest of the environment, and can be quickly accessed.

The Data Hub

Enter Pure Storage, and the Data Hub. Using FlashBlade, the NFS and object-based architecture released a couple years back, Pure has created a highly available, massively powerful, and scalable architecture. This architecture will give the enterprise the kind of power necessary to leverage data, gain key insights, and move their business forward at a level that they need in order to remain relevant in a data-driven world. Tasks like AI Clusters, and Data Analytics, as well as Data Warehousing, and Data Lakes will benefit from the Data Hub. Data Hub is designed to break down the traditional model of silos and enable the needs of modern IT applications.

Keys to the architecture include high ingest, high output scale-out functionality, resiliency, and parallel processing. Also important is that these keys are all being handled without regular human intervention as part of the process. Each of these keys is also native to the Purity operating system.

Performance Meets Flexibility

In today’s world of ever shifting needs and ever growing data, a platform that has the flexibility to deal with this movement is mission critical. Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Facial Recognition, and other streaming analytical practices require a significant amount of horsepower just to keep up. Demands on our storage platforms continue to grow. Sizing and growing these platforms are critical to the needs of a modern organization. Only the combination of Pure Storage’s Data Hub coupled with the FlashBlade is geared distinctly to provide these kinds of functionalities.

Pure Storage has made a huge effort to add power to applications in categories like AI, and streaming analytics while addressing challenges as the datasets extend to cloud-based storage. To highlight these efforts, Pure will be hosting a “Crowd Chat” to discuss how the storage industry as a whole can follow the lead that Pure Storage is taking in ensuring that data isn’t stored in traditional silos and hidden from the applications that need to share that data in the future. Pure welcomes everyone from across the storage industry to participate and share their views on how to affect these changes and ensure that the future of data is moving to where it needs to be. You won’t want to miss this chat on the third of October at 10am Pacific, or 1pm Eastern.
